Mason Greenwood Rejects Saudi Offers, Eyes Move from Olympique de Marseille

Mason Greenwood has turned his back on Saudi Arabia – but not on a move away from Olympique de Marseille.

The 24-year-old forward, whose two-year spell at OM now looks all but over, has rejected lucrative offers from Al Ahli, Al Qadsiah and Al Diriyah, according to Sacha Tavolieri. The money was there. The project, clearly, was not.

In Provence, the signs of an imminent departure are already visible. As reported by La Provence, Greenwood has handed back the keys to his house in Aix, a symbolic full stop on his time in the south of France. Marseille are braced for a sale. The only question is where.

Fenerbahce step forward – but OM hold firm

The most advanced track leads to Turkey. L’Équipe report that Greenwood has reached an agreement on personal terms with Fenerbahce, a club eager to add a marquee attacking name to its ranks.

For now, though, the deal is stuck in familiar territory: the fee.

Marseille value Greenwood at around €50m and are yet to find common ground with Fenerbahce. The Turkish side know they have the player’s approval. They do not yet have OM’s.

That stand-off will define the next phase of the saga. Greenwood wants the move. Fenerbahce want the player. Marseille want their price.

Roma in the wings

Italy has entered the frame as well. AS Roma have registered their interest and, crucially, Greenwood is understood to be keen on a switch to the Italian capital.

Roma, like Fenerbahce, still need to satisfy Marseille’s demands. No agreement, no transfer. For now, the Giallorossi are watching the numbers as closely as the player.

So the picture is clear. Saudi Arabia is off the table. Marseille are ready to cash in. Fenerbahce and Roma circle the same target, both wary of a €50m valuation that will test their resolve.

Greenwood has closed the door on one destination and packed up his life in another. The next move will say plenty about where he sees the peak of his career – Istanbul, Rome, or a late, surprise bidder willing to meet Marseille’s price.
