Manchester United Offer Mason Mount to AC Milan, Diallo Not for Sale

Manchester United’s midfield overhaul has taken a sharp turn. Mason Mount, signed with such fanfare from Chelsea, is now being offered to AC Milan, while Amad Diallo has been ruled strictly off-limits.

This is what a reset looks like at Old Trafford: big names, big decisions, and no room for sentiment.

Mount offered to Milan as United chase funds

United are deep in the market for midfield reinforcements and have already lined up Ederson Silva from Atalanta. Another one, possibly two, could follow. To make that happen, they need sales.

Mount has become the expendable piece.

Injuries have stalked him since his move from Chelsea and he has slipped down Michael Carrick’s pecking order. The club had hoped to move on Manuel Ugarte to generate funds, but his serious knee injury at the World Cup has effectively shut that door.

So the focus has turned to Mount.

According to Milan Press, United have proposed the England international to AC Milan in a deal worth around 25 million euros (£21.5m). The Italian outlet reports that Ruben Amorim, now in charge at San Siro and previously Mount’s coach at Old Trafford, has already given his approval to explore the move.

“Green light,” was the phrase used. Negotiations have not been described as advanced, but the information exchange between the clubs is said to be underway, with that 25m valuation forming the basis of any talks.

For United, it would be a clean, strategic sale: a high-earner, not currently central to Carrick’s plans, turned into funds to push on with the rebuild. For Milan, it would be a chance to reunite Amorim with a player he knows well and believes he can revive in Serie A.

Amorim reunion on the cards

The potential reunion is a key thread here. Milan Press report that “one of the names proposed to Milan in recent hours is that of Mason Mount,” stressing that Amorim’s approval has already been given for a “possible negotiation.”

Amorim’s Milan is being framed in Italy as a project built on “big signings” and smart opportunities. Mount, still only 25 and with Champions League pedigree, fits neatly into that bracket if the price stays at the reported level.

For Mount, a move to Milan would offer a reset away from the scrutiny and stop-start rhythm of his United spell. For United, it would be a statement that no reputation is safe if it doesn’t align with the new structure of the squad.

Diallo going nowhere

If Mount is being nudged towards the exit, Amad Diallo is being pulled firmly in the opposite direction.

The winger, one of Amorim’s standout performers during his time in charge at United, has naturally been linked with a move to AC Milan as well. Italian reports have floated the idea of a double raid: Mount and Diallo, reunited with their former coach in Serie A.

United have shut that down.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, made the club’s stance crystal clear. He reported that Manchester United consider Amad Diallo “not for sale this summer” and that Carrick has made his position known internally.

“Michael Carrick has made his decision known to the club,” Romano said, adding that United “fully expect Amad Diallo to remain part of their plans for the new season.”

The message is blunt. Speculation will continue, links to Milan and others will resurface, but United’s line does not move: Diallo stays.

A clear divide in United’s rebuild

Two players, two very different verdicts.

Mount, once seen as a cornerstone signing, is now a potential casualty of a reshaped midfield. Diallo, who had to fight his way into prominence, has become non-negotiable in Carrick’s project.

United’s summer is starting to take shape: Ederson Silva incoming, Mount on the market, Ugarte stuck by injury, Diallo ring-fenced. The choices are bold, the margins tight.

If Milan come back with serious intent for Mount, the next move will say plenty about how ruthless – and how ambitious – this new Manchester United really is.
