Borussia Dortmund Eye Ibrahim Mbaye from PSG

Borussia Dortmund have set their sights on one of Paris Saint-Germain’s brightest young attackers, opening talks over a potential move for Ibrahim Mbaye, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The German club have made contact to explore the conditions of a deal for the 18-year-old winger, sounding out PSG about his situation and availability. It is an early step, but a deliberate one: Dortmund rarely knock on a door without a clear idea of the talent behind it.

Mbaye is not short of admirers. In England, Aston Villa are among the Premier League sides credited with interest, adding another layer of intrigue to a race for a player still at the very start of his career. Any move will not be straightforward. PSG tied him down on a contract running until 2028, a statement of how highly they rate him and a reminder that they hold the strongest hand at the negotiating table.

On the pitch, Mbaye already has a meaningful body of work for someone his age. He has made 42 appearances for PSG, contributing four goals and four assists. Those numbers do not yet scream superstardom, but they hint at a winger who has broken through in a demanding environment and survived the scrutiny that comes with it.

Dortmund know that profile well. An 18-year-old with top-level minutes, room to grow, and a long contract at a European heavyweight is precisely the kind of project they have built their modern identity around. The question now is whether they can convince PSG to part with another of their young assets—and whether Mbaye’s next step will be the Bundesliga’s Yellow Wall or the glare of the Premier League.
