Real Madrid Targets Record Transfer with Olise Bid
Florentino Pérez has never been shy of a statement. Fresh from securing another term as Real Madrid president, he wants a celebration worthy of the Galactico era – and that means a blockbuster signing.
Real Madrid line up record-shattering Olise bid
The name at the top of Madrid’s wishlist is clear: Michael Olise.
Bayern Munich keep insisting the Frenchman is not for sale, but that has not cooled Madrid’s interest. According to Látigo Serrano, the Spanish giants are preparing an opening offer of around €180m (£155m) and are willing to go even higher. If that is what it takes, they are ready to smash the existing €222m world transfer record.
This is not a tentative courtship. It is Madrid behaving as Madrid do at moments of power – identifying a star and driving straight at the deal, whatever the noise from Munich.
One forward who will not be part of that Bernabéu rebuild, though, is Viktor Gyökeres.
Arsenal shut door on Gyökeres exit talk
The Swedish striker has been dragged into the rumour mill in recent days, with suggestions he could be used as a makeweight in a complex swap involving Atletico Madrid and Arsenal’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez.
On paper, it sounded like classic summer-window alchemy: a 21-goal striker in his first season in North London sacrificed to unlock another marquee name. In reality, those close to the situation are pouring cold water on it. Caught Offside report that Gyökeres is not heading to Madrid and that talk of him being casually thrown into a deal is wide of the mark.
Arsenal may have decisions to make in attack, but Gyökeres is not the one being pushed towards the door.
Gabriel Martinelli might be a different story.
Martinelli weighs future as Arsenal chase new winger
The Brazilian winger is understood to be assessing his options at the Emirates. As Arsenal continue to prioritise the signing of a new left winger, The Times report that Martinelli is considering what that means for his role – and his future.
He is into the final 12 months of his current deal, a precarious position for any key asset at a club with title ambitions. Arsenal’s recruitment drive on that flank sends a clear message: competition is coming. Whether Martinelli chooses to fight for his place or seek a fresh start elsewhere could become one of the more intriguing subplots of the window.
Manchester United prepare ruthless goalkeeper cull
Up the road, Manchester United are planning a sharp reset between the posts.
Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir and Radek Vitik could all leave Old Trafford this summer as the club reshapes its goalkeeping department. It is a bold stance, given the upheaval such a clear-out would create in one of the most sensitive areas of the pitch.
Vitik, in particular, has no shortage of admirers. Newly promoted Hull, Coventry and Ipswich are all chasing the young keeper, sensing an opportunity to add Premier League-level depth as they gear up for life in the top flight.
If United follow through, they will walk into next season with an almost entirely new hierarchy in goal – a gamble for any side, let alone one under pressure to rejoin Europe’s elite.
Villa eye Bowen after West Ham’s fall
Aston Villa, by contrast, are moving from a position of strength.
Fresh from securing Champions League football, Unai Emery’s side are targeting Jarrod Bowen as they look to deepen their squad for the demands of Europe’s top competition. The West Ham captain finds himself at a crossroads after the club’s relegation to the Championship, and interest from Villa offers a swift route back to the game’s highest stage.
Sky Sports report that Villa are weighing up a formal offer, while West Ham value their talisman at around £50m. For Bowen, it is a stark choice: stay and haul the Irons back up from the second tier, or trade that fight for Champions League nights and a shot at something bigger.
From Pérez’s pursuit of another Galactico to Villa’s push for Champions League-ready firepower, the market is already crackling. The only real question now is which club blinks first.
